Earlier this month the Father & Son Team Classic was played at a handful of golf courses around the Grand Strand as part of Family Golf Week and one of them was Arcadian Shores Golf Club. On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a look at the day of the event and see the fun and fellowship that was had by all that beautiful July day.
The Father & Son Team Classic is a two person team, 54-hole event that takes place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every July. The Parent Child Team Classic is similar to the Father & Son Team Classic but incorporates all other relationships, such as mother and daughter or mother and son. This year there were 350 two-person teams registered for the event.
“It is great to have all the families out here playing golf together,” says Frank Coughlin, PGA General Manager. “I always enjoy seeing the fathers and sons, no matter what the ages are. It is also cool to see the teams that really get into the spirit of the event and wear matching golf shirts and shorts. That is when you know that they are here to have a good time!”
Of course, the golf course has been in fantastic condition all year long and the players were very appreciative of that fact. For many of the players, it was their first look at Arcadian since the remodel last year.
John from Ohio said “It almost doesn’t look like the same golf course when driving through the entrance. The new clubhouse is beautiful! I was amazed when I saw it. It has been a few years since I played here on a golf trip and man was I surprised. It was great out there today.”
“What a great golf course,” said Sammy from Virginia. “The conditions were wonderful and the putting was amazing! The greens were so smooth and fast. It was great seeing those kinds of conditions on the golf course.”
Family Golf Week was a huge success this year and Frank and the gang at Arcadian Shores were very appreciative to have the opportunity to be one of the host golf courses for the event.
